Sigma Psi Zeta Sorority as an organization is over fourteen years old. It
is the oldest of its kind to originate out of the East Coast. While
each sister is different and unique, our sorority as a whole is one
of pioneerism, friendship, strength, unity, professionalism and sisterhood.
We recognize the importance of expanding to fit our greater cause as
a sisterhood and that is to help, serve and understand communities
across the world.
Women who are interested in our sorority need not
be strictly of Asian descent. Sigma Psi Zeta Sorority, Inc. does not
discriminate
based on race, creed, religion or sexual orientation. Our sisterhood celebrates the
diversity of our members and applicants.
We are interested in women
who are innovative educators; those who are pioneers that set-forth a
new standard for women in the professional
and academic worlds as well as in our communities. These individuals
should share similar aspirations of unity, success, and leadership,
and are generally enthusiastic, talented, responsible, and devoted.
Interest groups must have no less than eight women in their petitioning
group. They possess the tenacity and determination to become the
CHARTER CLASS of a sistership of Sigma Psi Zeta Sorority.
We also
realize the importance of balancing active involvement in the community
with high academic standards. As a result, all members of our interest groups
must maintain a MINIMUM cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.7 (based upon
a 4.0 scale or its equivalent) prior to and during the chartering process. All members
including undergraduate, graduate and prospective members must maintain the greater of our MINIMUM
cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 or the University standard.
The success of Sigma Psi Zeta is a
direct result of its members. In the previous fourteen years, we have
overcome many obstacles as an
organization to achieve our present level of growth and success.
For these reasons, we believe in the importance of the quality of
our members and their potential ability to contribute to the future
prosperity of Sigma Psi Zeta as well as the advancement of our communities.
We
encourage all women to research the other Asian-interest sororities
that exist in order to find the one that is best fit to their individual
preferences. It is important that women who choose our sisterhood
feel that it is right for them, and come to us with an informed decision.
